Two Ways We Close the Gap
Not every young artist, writer, or performer has access to expensive lessons, international competitions, or polished portfolios. Mind the Gap exists to make creative opportunity easier to reach. We invite students ages 11–15 to show what they can create — from where they are, with what they have, and with the stories they already carry.
Who can apply?
- Ages 11–15
- Students from any country, with a special welcome to students from underprivileged communities
- Individuals or students submitting through a school/organization
- No application fee
- No advanced portfolio required
- Beginner work is welcome
- The work must connect to the 2026 theme: Our World
Why This Exists
Mind the Gap was created because many young students have talent before they have confidence, resources, or access. Major arts programs often recognize students who are already trained, polished, and supported. Mind the Gap is different: it is built for younger students who are still discovering what they can do.
